Australia retained the Ashes series with a win in the third Test match

The third Test of the Ashes series, played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, saw Australia thrash England. The Kangaroos beat England by an innings and 14 runs (Australia against England). The hosts were dismissed for 267 runs after England scored 185 runs in the first innings. The first innings gave Australia an 82-run lead. However, England’s entire team was reduced to just 68 runs in the second innings.

Scott Boland, a 32-year-old fast bowler, took six wickets for just seven runs in the second innings. Mitchell Starc grabbed three wickets and Cameron Green one. Australia now enjoys an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match Test series (AUS vs ENG Test Series).

David Malan, Jack Leach, Mark Wood, and Olly Robinson were unable to open the account for England in the second innings. Opening batsman Haseeb Hameed was out for 0 in the first innings.

England’s batting order demolished by Scott Boland:

In the match, Boland took seven wickets for 55 runs. For this effort, he received the Johnny Mullagh Med for Player of the Match. The trophy is named after the 1868 trip to England by a Native Australian team.
